Programs
Mentoring Our Students to Reading Success
CISP partners with local elementary schools to provide this program. Adult mentors are recruited from our local community to read with at-risk readers. The role of the mentor in this one-on-one relationship based program is to be an encouraging partner in helping the child to see themselves as a "reader."
Schools served by this program: Artondale, Evergreen, Minter Creek, Harbor Heights and Vaughn Elementary Schools
Mentoring Our Students to Math Success
CISP partners with local elementary and middleschools to provide this after school program for elementary and middle school students struggling with math. CISP recruits volunteer mentors to help kids achieve math success with the guidance of a CISP site coordinator.
Schools served by this program: Purdy Elementary and Key Peninsula and Kopachuck Middle Schools
Student and Family Services
CISP provides supportive services to address issues of concern
through a whole school approach. Examples include: helping students
meet academic and behavioral goals through goal setting and recognition
events, supporting school
strategies to reduce bullying and harrassment through theater, linking
students to summer camp scholarships, providing school supplies, and brokering vision and dental care.
The program also includes connecting services and linking families with
necessary healthcare, parent support via Love and Logic courses, transportation assistance, and financial literacy offerings.
